Aire River West to Johanna Beach

Day two of The Hiking Society MeetUp’s weekend away with the Good Times Tours on the Great Ocean Road, saw us hike from Aire River West to Johanna Beach.

A 14-kilometre stretch of trail, this section was much the same as the day before but with weather that wasn’t as harsh.

Similar to the day before, we were hiking along the coast with spectacular ocean views to our left.

If there was any difference between the second and the first day, I would say that the first day had significantly more hills and was more exposed in areas.

Furthermore, the second day’s hike from Aire River West included two kilometres worth of hiking on the beach which was a whole lot of fun.

Personally, I had never hiked on the sand before so it was a completely new experience for me and one that left my calves reasonably sore.

That aside, it was nice to finish the weekend walking along the beach as we made our way back to the car park at Johanna Beach.

The staircase back to the car park isn’t well signed but it is located right before the first set of rocks that you come across on the beach.

The hike itself was absolutely incredible, but it was made even better because of the service provided by Good Times Tours.

I would highly recommend getting in touch with Jono and Clint if you are a regular hiker and are looking to level up.

Whilst they are a company that provides a professional service, they are laid back in their approach which makes for a relaxed atmosphere.

And not only do they do hiking and camping weekends but winery tours as well.
