Salomon Quest 4D GTX Hiking Boots

Salomon has in no way, shape or form paid me for this blog article. I simply love these boots and reckon you guys should be aware of them if you aren’t already.

If you’re serious about hiking, you’ll want to invest in a pair of hiking boots that provide you with all the support and comfort you need while out on the trail.

Now, you are going to choose yours based on your needs, but if you are looking for a boot that is comfortable and lightweight, you can’t go wrong with the Salomon Quest 4D GTX hiking boots.

Pros

As previously mentioned, they are comfortable and lightweight. While they may not be for everyone, I found them to be a great fit straight away. So much so that I didn’t have to wear them as you do with most hiking boots. Personally, that’s a big win straight away.

The locking lace system keeps your foot and ankle nice and sturdy without it being completely stiff. You should always allow for a little bit of wiggle room with your hiking boots so you can avoid any ankle injuries.

Durability is another pro for me. I’ve taken them through the scrub, mud, water, gravel, scree, and all sorts of trails, and while they have the odd scratch here and there, they’ve shown no signs of falling apart.

Given the terrain you’re likely to come across whilst out on the trail, durability with your hiking boots is such a necessity.

Cons

While this probably doesn’t come under durability, the eyelets in the locking lace system have been known to break easily. In saying that, in the two years I’ve had them I have had one break on me. All things considered, that’s not too bad.

The sole could probably be a little grippier. That’s not to say that you’ll be slipping over all the time, but there have been instances where I have slipped momentarily.

And, as always, the price. Last I checked, these retail at Paddy Pallin in Australia for $350 and while that may deter you from buying them, do yourself a favour and have a look online at some of the international stores and you may be able to reduce that price significantly. It’s all about doing your research.

So, they’re my hiking boots of choice, what about yours? Let me know in the comments section below.
